WWJD... In Bed?

Have you ever played that game where you open your fortune cookie and have to read your fortune and follow it with “in bed”?

Very funny!

But thinking WWJD in bed isn’t so funny for so many people.

If you’ve been following my sexy Sunday cartoons, you know that I’ve been challenging purity culture ideas and practices because I believe it is, at its roots, male-dominance and anti-human.

I remember the days when I used to make every effort to ask the question “What would Jesus do?” in each and every situation. I wanted to do the right thing. And who’s a better model than Jesus?

The problem with this though is that it robs me of my agency and violates my freedom. Practice this WWJD enough and you lose the ability to make a decision for yourself and separates you from your own mind.

But WWJD separates him from his own body. He doesn’t know what to do. He can’t imagine Jesus in this situation. Therefore he is paralyzed.

He simply can’t be present in the moment and in his body. He can’t simply enjoy himself or her.

It further substantiates what he’s been taught… that he’s about to be absent from the Lord for getting involved in carnal physical pleasure.

Sex is divorced from his body and his mind and his spirituality.

He can’t act as one, as an integrated person, and not only he but his wife will notice that he is flooded with guilt and shame and not fully present, passionate, or pleasured.

So they are both deprived of connection, good sex, and a lot of fun.

Until he is healed.

Which can happen!

I hear these cartoons are helping some people. I really hope so.
