David Hayward: Master of Theology, Diploma in Ministry, over 30 years professional pastoral experience.

I was baptized Anglican as a baby, came to faith in a Baptist church when I was a teenager, changed to Pentecostal in my late teens, married another Pentecostal named Lisa, was ordained Presbyterian, pastored a Vineyard church, went Independent, and planted others.

I have a Masters in Theological Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, as well as a Diploma in Religious Studies and Ministry from McGill University in Montreal.

In 2010 I left the professional paid clergy after almost 30 years of ministry. I am passionate about how people can find and follow their own spiritual path with courage and joy, as well as in how people can freely gather and form community in healthy ways.I help people deconstruct without the self-destruct. I help people lose their faith without losing their minds. I help people undress their religion to the core essential of their own unique spirituality. I call this spiritual independence.

I started this blog called nakedpastor in 2006, and initiated my public undressing of religion, religious community and spirituality through my writings, art and cartoons. Thousands of people are challenged and entertained by nakedpastor every day.

In 2012, I launched The Lasting Supper, and online resource site and community for spiritually independent people to help themselves to companionship and support for their spiritual journeys. It’s like nakedpastor’s small group.

My art, cartoons, writings, and books have found their way all around the world, and I coach people who want spiritual freedom from everywhere.

If you would like to connect, please email me!

I live with my wife Lisa on the beautiful Kennebecasis River near Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. We have 3 grown children. And a dog, Sophie.

  1. Hello!
My name is Cynthia, I reside in New Jersey, US. I came across your cartoons while searching for abuse of power political pieces… I myself am starting my own blog… it’s all about personal growth and positive progression but stemmed from deciding to retire from the service industry and pave my own way! I came across one of your cartoons, and I would really love to post it on my page! I would also love to reference you on my page and shed a little light on how I found you and why you’re such an inspiration to me! I’d like to spread the knowledge wealth! My blog is not up and running, it does not have a launch date yet, but I’m rounding out my first article and your cartoon really reasonated with me! I hope that this message finds you and that you and your loved ones are all well! Thank you so much for your time!

    Sincerely,
    Cynthia CV
