The Burning Question of Biblical Sex

I’ve heard some claim that any situation that doesn’t keep a woman in a submissive position goes against God’s will.

As a pastor I’ve talked with many people who anguish over being biblically correct in bed because it’s symbolic of how they are to be biblically correct in their relationship and in their home.

Too much analysis!

I say don’t let the Bible get in the way of a good time in your bedroom (or wherever).

  1. I at first guffawed when I saw this and then I read the words below. While I recall that there are some 10-12 different types of marriages found in the Bible, I don’t recall anything that addresses what positions people might choose. It is rather heartbreaking to me to think there are people who feel they can’t do what they want with their consenting partner because they are worried that they won’t be “Biblical.” If we think the Bible provides specific guidance for every single detail of our existence,then we have the Bible an idol that we worship when the Bible is supposed to teach us how to worship, adore, love, be friends with God.

  2. Actually, the woman-on-top position is mentioned in the Bible, in Job 31:9-10.

    “If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbour’s door;
    Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.”

    How could she grind on him unless she was on top? 😉 LOL.

  3. Workin’ Mama, it’s verses like that which make me wonder what the original language really says. Because the translators of the KJV really took liberties with the original languages and did not translate them accurately and so established a tradition.
