The Burning Question of Biblical Sex

I’ve heard some claim that any situation that doesn’t keep a woman in a submissive position goes against God’s will.

As a pastor I’ve talked with many people who anguish over being biblically correct in bed because it’s symbolic of how they are to be biblically correct in their relationship and in their home.

Too much analysis!

I say don’t let the Bible get in the way of a good time in your bedroom (or wherever).

I at first guffawed when I saw this and then I read the words below. While I recall that there are some 10-12 different types of marriages found in the Bible, I don’t recall anything that addresses what positions people might choose. It is rather heartbreaking to me to think there are people who feel they can’t do what they want with their consenting partner because they are worried that they won’t be “Biblical.” If we think the Bible provides specific guidance for every single detail of our existence, then we have the Bible an idol that we worship when the Bible is supposed to teach us how to worship, adore, love, be friends with God.

  2. For some theologians the woman to be on top symbolizes dominance over the man, which isn’t biblical. I’m sure there aren’t many who think that, but it makes for a cartoon.

Dominance is not Biblical, period. Gal 3:28
