It’s been this way in the past, but it seems to be getting worse.

It used to be they’d say we welcomed certain people but made it difficult for them to integrate.

Now they say they welcome certain people but openly refuse them and they leave it up to the media to interpret what they mean.

It seems we are satisfied and even impressed with sounding good rather than being good.

So sad.

It’s like the way the feminist movement welcomes women. Came across my FB this morning: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/ultra-feminist-founder-of-femen-brazil-declares-herself-pro-life-apologizes

In a sense, I agree with Brigitte. Granted, her link is a extreme pro-life group, and they have their own slant for what news they will publish (or not). Nonetheless, the quotes by the former feminist (in Brazil) are very damning of such behavior.

One of my great difficulties with the church institutions, is that they were suppose to recognize this damning behavior of the world’s systems, and then live above such behavior.

That is, the church institution was, in my opinion, to rise collectively above imitating the world.

The church institution (whether orthodox or not) was to have a wide open door, and then perhaps draw the line at “membership” or “leadership”. That way, they would not have to lie, mislead, or destroy.

A church could say, “We welcome everyone. If you are a registered sex offender, for legal reasons and to protect you from violating your parole terms, please only attend our Tuesday evening adults-only fellowship.”

A church could say, “We welcome everyone. To become a member, and attend our member-only steering meetings, you must agree with our ‘statement of faith and rules of behavior’. ”

    And so forth.

As we say, “play your cards face up”…. anything else is bit hypocritical.
