In recent years I have learned the value of such defiance. I believe we have to allow ourselves to be defiant against that which would seek to control or enslave us if we are ever going to be able to enjoy real freedom.
The extended middle fingers is perfect in the raw emotion portrayed…a very visual “Fuck you” if you will. As you know David, I enjoy the use of that vernacular sometimes when dealing with rabid fundamentalists. It conveys such a depth of feeling and context not easily achieved with more socially acceptable language. And their response, usually quite insulting, can be the most enlightening part of the exchange. 😉
i totally get it
Those lions ain’t lying! Spiritual principles can also go the other way, like a weighing scale. I have often been defiant against helpful advice and support but was too prideful and rebellious to accept it and perhaps change my modus operandi.
This comment is playing the “Devil’s” advocate I guess
