How God decides to go to church!

Here’s a theory:

  1. If God goes to church, it will have a very legalistic, Old Testament feel to it.
  2. If Jesus has to go, church will have a radical, social justice and issues edge.
  3. If the Spirit goes, it will be all touchy-feely, emotional, and warm.

I joke. But thoughts on that?

I’m not quite sure I understand you as you intend David. Are you suggesting that “God” is legalistic, “Jesus” is radical and “Sprit” touchy-feely?

I get the joke but then the joke surely must be at the expense of the human thoughts about “God”, “Jesus” and “Spirit” but not what is beyond the thoughts. My thought goes back to our theology about “God” not being “God”, which I agree with.

I figure there’s much more to be known than I am capable of understanding. If I try to fit anything of “God” into an Adam sized box then lol well it wold be silly to try and I would be making it about me not about “God”.

I think there can be times of certainty, confusion and contentment surely contentment must come with knowing that no-one has it all figured out. That we can all have different colours of light like in the visible spectrum and even infra-red and ultra violet but none of us be able to cover the whole spectrum of light. And sometimes the only light we can have is darkness and it takes receiving light to have any light in us.

So yeah contentment in for example not knowing – the could of unknowing and / or for example “Spirit” being like a wind not knowing where it has come form or where it has gone to is what comes to my mind.

I am at peace with that.

Like laughter and joy, I don’t understand it, just glad when it turns up 🙂

    Thanks for asking 🙂

It’s spot on. God is OT old man on the throne handing out condemnation.
Jesus is young, brash, forgiving and loyal unto death.
The Spirit is emotional, touchy feely, weepy, euphoric.

Fully understandable because it’s all between the ears. Each of us makes it what we want to satisfy our wants, needs and desires. I find it most logical to pitch it all w the bath water and continue to walk forward and breathe. Until like all things, I become worm dirt.

  5. Luke says:

    MODALISM!!! You heretic! 😉

I like it though. Maybe if God went to church, the infinite vastness would blow our minds and we’d trip like on shrooms.

Fun little exercise. Answers tell us a lot about our image or non image of God.
