And the Last Supper? It was not an historic event. See for the details.

    An excerpt:

“At the same time, Luedemann concludes that the portrayal of Jesus celebrating such a ritual on the night before his death is not historical. He is clear that there is “no generic relationship” between any actual final meal and the Lord’s Supper understood in cultic terms. He also denies the Passover character of the supper as a Markan creation. Like Meier (below), Luedemann does accept the saying (Mark 14:25) about drinking wine in the kingdom of God as authentic. He concludes: (this saying) “hardly came into being in the early community, for in it Jesus does not exercise any special function for believers at the festal meal in heaven which is imminent. Only Jesus’ expectation of a the future kingdom of God stands at the centre, not Jesus as saviour, judge or intercessor.”

So now you can enjoy your turkey in peace. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!!!

  2. Even if it wasn’t a historic event, this is a cute cartoon, isn’t it? 😀

Bernardo…Why the hell should we care what Luedemann concludes?

    Question for Bernardo:

You clearly believe that what David draws/writes is ‘not relevant’ because the JC even never happened. So…if it’s irrelevant to you then why bother being here?

You almost never engage in the discussion surrounding the ‘topic’ that David is trying to address except to continuously repeat that none of these events ever happened.

So….let me ask again, why bother being here if none of this is relevant to you, please?

oops don’t know how my name got shortened in the above comment.

  6. at least you didn’t type purv 😉

  7. Bernardo says:

Tis all about spending time discussing history not myths. Once again:

As good students, you have read the reiterations of the “FEMS” of religion. Therefore the seeds have been planted in rich soil. Go therefore and preach the truth to all nations, reiterating as you go amongst the lost, bred, born and brainwashed “souls” of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism as Rational Thinking makes its triumphant return all because of you!!!!

It truly amazes me Bernardo that you still insist on this insulting tone and mindless dribble. You have no thoughts of your own so it would seem and therefore you constantly make these sad appeals to authority fallacies. Of course for every authority you hold up as irrefutable, I or any of us could provide another with equal or greater education, expertise, etc. who flatly disagrees with your gods. (They must be your gods…because you are incapable of thinking beyond their teaching…just like any fundamentalist)

Actually Bernardo…it is you who is the myth. You seem to solely exist in the realm of quotes, opinions of others, stories handed down to you by those who traveled the road before.

    Sound familiar?

  9. Caryn LeMur says:

Gosh, Bernardo… you did manage to reduce to one citation. That’s an amazing improvement for you.

If my fundamentalist friends could reduce to one cite from the Bible… that would be major for them too.

Keep trying. Your own voice matters, and you can share your own opinion. We do welcome Fundamentalist Atheists, like yourself. We just ask that they show dialog and original thought/combinations, and respectful tone towards all the belief systems (including their own).

Hell… I share my opinion all the time.

    Hang in there.

  10. purvez says:

David, David,…you of all people should know your spelling. The ‘correct’ one would have been ‘perv’!! LOL!!

  11. haha i know. the sound though 🙂
