Okay! Wow! This would explain a LOT!

This would explain a lot. Like…

Why God doesn’t answer prayer.
Why there is the problem of evil in the world.
Why we no longer feel his presence.
Why he doesn’t seem to pay attention.
Why he might as well not exist.
Why we get addicted to our cellphones (the trickle-down effect).
Why our cellular bills are so high (cuz he can afford it).

Well… what else would this explain?

There’s the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal I’ve always enjoyed in 1 Kings 18. But in this story Elijah taunts the false prophets by saying, “Shout louder! Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.” Apparently the original Hebrew suggests that Elijah said “Maybe he’s going to the bathroom!”

Anyway… now he could perhaps say, “Maybe he’s on his cellphone!”

Not that there’s anything inherently evil or even wrong with technology. I appreciate it (he says as he types on his macbook).

But it certainly can get in the way of life.

Don’t have a lot of time but did want to note this about prayer (as previously noted):

Free Will and Future are inherent to all the thinking beings in the Universe. This being the case, it is not possible to alter life with prayers. Statistically, your request might come true but it is simply the result of the variability/randomness of Nature..
So put down your rosaries and prayer beads and stop worshiping/revering cows or bowing to Mecca five times a day. Instead work hard at your job, take care of aging parents, volunteer at a soup kitchen, donate to charities and the poor and continue to follow any good rules of living as gracious and good human beings.

    Good questions!

They seem not dissimilar to many questions asked in the Psalms.

Interesting that you should talk of the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal. It’s what I use in my comedy act. If you are bored you might want to take a peek at it.

  3. As a long time Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor working for a major US airline, one of the first hard lessons we learned about “automation” in the in the cockpit was, it actually increased pilot workload, rather than reducing it. Moreover, it often distracted the pilot from the critical task of flying the airplane, at the worst possible (most dangerous) times. Hence, when we allow our lives to be controlled by our electronic devices, instead of the other way around, have we not become subservient to our technology? Likewise, when we allow our addiction to these devices to supplant our responsibilities, to our families, our jobs and perhaps even our Lord, have we not engaged in a form of idolatry?

Ducati! Great job on the comedy circuit!!

I loved how you brought some of your degree work into your routine, and so glad the audience rolled with the jokes. And… I never knew where ‘I don’t give one iota’ came from… lol.

    Keep it going!

Bernardo: welcome back. How has your family reacted to your statements of ‘put down your rosarie’? As I recall, you were a bit concerned about the religious RCC in your family.

  6. Bernardo says:

As with most members of the RCC to include the RCC members of my family, the rosary is rarely said or mentioned anymore.

I am afraid the appropriate use of devices is yet another area that requires discipline that most will not bother to develop…
