I’m posting this older cartoon today in honor of Alice Henson, who just passed away. She bought this cartoon from me years ago. When I asked her if she liked it, she responded, “Like it!? I LOVE it!” You can get a print of it HERE if you’d like one.
Alice Henson had been an online friend of mine for many years. She appreciated my writing and cartooning about the church and Christianity. For years this gentle soul encouraged me like no other could. She was like a mom to me. Spark, humor, vigor and wisdom emanated from her. She had a way of seeing through my illusory crap and spoke truth into my life. It began many years ago when she bought some of my art. Then, through our frequent correspondence, she detected my unhealthy and unhelpful negative beliefs and spoke kindly and gently to me about them. She generously sent me Joel Goldsmith’s book Invisible Supply: Finding the Gifts of the Spirit Within because she thought it would help me. It did.
She was also a founding member of my online community, The Lasting Supper. She joined TLS as soon as I started it and generously supported us financially all the way through her struggles. We’re going to miss her there.
Her wise love spread like a warm breeze over wherever she sent her thoughts. I was glad to be on the receiving end of that.
Goodbye for now, Alice.
