THANK YOU!!! For being honest, straight forward and true in your work.
I just stumbled in on your web page and saw the picture of the woman chained to that stone wall. I was her. My dad was a pastor and later in life I also married a pastor. After 3,5 years of marriage, I had to literally flee from our home, leaving everything behind. My ex husband was a charismatic leader with a lot of humor and ways to make his listeners love him and enjoy his messages. But at home behind closed doors he was a totally different person. I had no chance. And according to him all I should do was submit, because my body belonged to him. He used scripture verses for everything he wanted to do with me. I left him eleven (11) years ago and I still have to work on my recovery. Physical, verbal, and mental abuse is even more detrimental when mixed with spiritual abuse.
Once again, thank you for calling things as they are. I know the truth of that picture first hand. And I also know that God did not want it that way. Oppression is not from the Lord.
Hi Johanna. Thanks so much for your wonderful comment. You’re pretty honest yourself. Things like this encourage me to keep going.

David,
Thank you so much. I discovered your cartoons today (via James McGrath), and I delighted in looking at them and taking your honesty deep into my soul.
I am an Anglican priest who is working hard to be honest about the good and bad in the church. I hate so much of the crap that goes on … and am so desperately in love with the God of the church and those people who are catching glimpses of God’s goodness. I look forward to sharing some of your truth with the people I serve.

If I wish to use one of your cartoons as a bulletin cover, what would I need to do?
hi Yme: Really nice to meet you. If you use it on a bulletin cover it is free. For such things I only accept donations if you wish at my email address. No pressure there. Where are you ministering?
David, I can’t get the “email me” to work. I had some thoughts and comments on the “Trapped” cartoon, but I really don’t want to comment for the public.
How can I email you, or can you email me and us chat?

David- First, I love your work!!! Wish I could afford ALL of it!!!! I have what may seem a VERY strange question! Do you by any chance ‘speak’ at events???? Specifically about the church being more inclusive, etc. I attend a VERY progressive, inclusive church in Dallas (yes, sounds like an oxymoron doesn’t it)…..and we are looking for a speaker for an annual event. Wasn’t sure if your ‘wisdom and insight’ was limited to what you do on paper, or if perhaps you are a speaker as well??? Figured it couldn’t hurt to ask!!! Let me know! And keep up the fantastic work! Connie

This new one popped up — did you get my last email??? Says it’s waiting for moderation–not sure what that means?
Hey man… I’d like to use one of your cartoons on a post on my blog. Can I just save it to my desktop and them upload it to the post? Giving you props, of course.
I left a comment yesterday. Now I can’t find the comment, or the post that it was attached to. Am I losing my mind? my tired brain can’t remember the gist of the post. My comment was something about families and systems and so forth.
Hi Kathy:
My site crashed for a couple of hours and that post was the only one lost. I still have your comment on file. I’m posting the same post tomorrow, so maybe you could comment again?

Here’s an idea for a cartoon, if you haven’t already done something such as this.
Title: The Prayer of Humble Access
Caption: (Huge crowd with arms raised) “Father God, right now, we just humbly exalt ourselves!” (That’s the so-called prayer language in this evangelical neck of the woods here in Indiana.)
Hey
Thank you very much for your talk during our EC class I really loved it and it was fun , I would like to meet you to get more ideas about blogging .
I think that you are someone that I need to talk to. Do you do that sort of thing? Also, I can’t wait until you get your book on Kindle. I’m crazy excited to read it. I would love to do a gchat or skype video chat or something and talk with you. I think that you could have a lot of insight to help me with what I am struggling with right now.
