Great cartoon. If I had a Top 10 list of fundamental objections to Christianity, surely one would be: Why would a supposedly all-loving and all-powerful creator of the universe have to descend to the atavistic level of human sacrifice and cannibalism to “make things right?” Or as David Mills says in his “Atheist Universe,” just WHO set the rule that “without the shedding of blood there can be be no forgiveness?” Being all-powerful, he could just have said, “Without the drinking of apple juice, there can be no forgiveness.”
Thought experiment: Jesus lives to the ripe old age of 80, thereby leaving many more teachngs and miracles, dies in his sleep, and is raised agan on the third day. Anything essential missing?
