I agree with Julia both on the ice over and on the metaphor. Yesterday i was putzing around in the yard cleaning up leaves etc and found dozens of shoots pushing up through the dead fall. It oozed its way into me about how much life starts under the surface and invisible, yet without any effort of mine, all these little things will be in bloom very shortly. I love spring!

For me, the easy part is to ice over – to get numb. The hard part is the unthawing and the knowing that there’s life underneath.
Man, I love metaphors! They remind me that there’s more to life than the tangible stuff in front of me.
