You Must

You must go find your own path. The path that that is walked is worn.
You must drink the new wine. The old wine has turned.
You must build your own house. The house of your birth confines you.
You must find your own lands. The land of your origin can’t sustain you.
You must climb your own mountain. The air you now breathe is stale.
You must find your own eyes. The eyes of others are blind for you.
There is a table set for you. But you must go into the midst of animosity to be enjoy it.
There is peace of mind waiting for you. But you must wander into the wilderness to acquire it.
There are friends you’ve never known who long for your love. But you must forsake all to embrace them.
There is new life just ahead, but you must die to find it.

I agree 100%! The Christian life is best lived.

AR called it ‘anti-poetry’…must be the rebel in me but I also loved the style of the verse.

You’ve got it summed up here David!

Paradox is the home of mystery and the Divine.

An upside down kind of life journey with an upside down kind of God at its end!

Why is it anti-poetry? It just seems like poetry to me.

You must go find your own path. – Done that.
You must drink the new wine. – Oh always doing that!
You must build your own house. – Will renting a flat do?
You must find your own lands. – Yep, South West.
You must climb your own mountain. – I climbed one on Christmas Day. Oh actually it was only a hill but for someone from Essex it was a mountain.
You must find your own eyes. – I need contacts.
There is a table set for you. But you must go into the midst of animosity to enjoy it. – Sounds like a recipe for indigestion. Why must we go into the midst of animosity?
There is peace of mind waiting for you. But you must wander into the wilderness to acquire it – Do you mean…somewhere without shops?
There are friends you’ve never known who long for your love. But you must forsake all to embrace them. – Why?
There is new life just ahead, but you must die to find it. – I’m dying to find it, but failing that just some normality would do.

“You must go find your own path.”

Every path I’ve found so far has led to ruin…so now I’m just looking for The Way.

“You must find your own eyes.”

But my eyes don’t work. I need new eyes, His eyes.

“There is new life just ahead, but you must die to find it.”

    Then let us die together!

An Anglican Priest, Cynthia Bougeault, also a Hermit, was my teacher when we studied “Living Presence”. In it, the author,Helminski, quotes Rumi: “Whoever is more awake has more pain. Seek pain!”

In recognition of your message, David, that quote is in the chapter headed “Die before you die”.

“There is a new life ahead. But you must die to find it.”Death, either figuratively or literally… it’s something we’re subconsciously aversed to.
