yeah for sure… Unity according to ideas or beliefs doesn’t work when the heat is turned up and people don’t agree with me… A friend asked me lately if I thought Jesus conceived of himself as a leader or a follower… I found that my gut level answer was that I think there is a third option that was Jesus’ trump card… He was always a servant. I’d be up for a movement that promotes “unity through serving”… just sayin…

I’m trying to think of ONE thing ALL Christians would agree on. Can’t think of what it would be.

They may not agree on this one, but Dead is Dead until PROVEN otherwise, and in that we have Unity.

——-ALL Christians believe Jesus is the Savior. If they don’t they are not a Christian. They can call themself a Christian, but that doesn’t make um Christian. I can call myself a Muslim, but I promise you, they would say I am not. Kinda like a person sneaking into America with forged documents saying they are a US citizen—they can say it all they want, but the ain’t.

fishon,
I get your point, and maybe “All Christians believe Jesus is the Savior” would be the basic thing they all do agree on.

I should think ‘dead is dead’ is the last thing all Christians would agree on. Science can’t even agree on it.
They would probably all agree on the Jesus is Saviour line, but then would undoubtedly argue over what ‘Saviour’ means and even what ‘Jesus’ refers to.

Alas, even how people relate to Jesus can cause division. We then get into the Baptism issue…how, and at what age, and what words are said. Some believe that you aren’t a Christian if you haven’t formally said the sinners prayer, others believe you’re a Christian by belonging to a church. Followers of Jesus…what does that mean? You know, I thought the twelve step groups were whacko for saying “God as you understand Him” until I began to see that there is no universal definition of God and that if I am having a conversation with someone about God we could be talking about different things.
The only scientists who may not agree are probably “Christian” scientists. lol
As far as the rest goes, there aint no disagreement on Dead being Dead.

Perhaps, for the purposes of this blog, the unifying factor could be the search for truth. But, that would eliminate those who feel they’ve found the truth…so scratch that. Perhaps it could simply be the sharing of our spiritual paths…where we’ve come from and where we are today.

preacherlady,
I like that idea. We could share a little of how we arrived at this point and why be believe what we believe.

Fishon, you may need to modify your definition from “ALL Christians believe Jesus is the Savior.” to “ALL Christians believe Jesus is A Savior.”
According to a CT report on the most recent (Feb 2010) Pew survey, “Asked whether many religions can lead to eternal life, 52 percent of evangelicals from the so-called millennial generation agreed.”
