  1. Sorry AOl had some problem and i got cut off yesterday.

No, I don’t believe I’ve never done anything wrong – of course not – but I also don’t believe I’ve ever done anything that would make me deserve Hell – no matter how you construe it.

‘The Ancients, whose history is lost to us, were greater than us’ – how far back are you going? Greater in what sense?

  2. a dilemma of two absurdities. so, what is there, really?!! Our theology serves to mystify God rather than expose him! We’ve damned ourselves!

  3. Theology changes – it changed over the course of the Bible as ideas/beliefs altered in time and with different communities. Even in the Catholic church it changes. They regard this as the role of the Holy Spirit.

  4. Didn’t Jesus say to make seeking the kingdom of God our first priority? And didn’t He say if we did that that everything else would fall into place? It doesn’t say when we reach it every thing would fall into place, but if we sought it everything would fall into place. To me, this implies a journey…a time of examination …of our beliefs, our actions, our affiliations. The apostle Paul said our transformation comes from the renewal of our minds…and to me this implies an evolution of consciousness and a continual change in understanding. I don’t believe any of us truly “gets it” while we are on this planet, but we are responsible for seeking the kingdom on a daily basis. How can we under go that transformation while we cling to old beliefs? We need to be open to the fact that the theology that served us yesterday doesn’t necessarily fit with what we learn today.

  5. I was looking at the Greek words used for ‘repent’ and it turns out to have the association, at least in Greek t hought (which we k now St. Paul was schooled in as he’s always quoting from Greek poets and philosophers), with entering the greater mind of God. Going from our limited minds into the mind of God. Sorry, would provide the Greek words, but I don’t remember them off hand – meta something no doubt.
