And dare I say it, at risk of having a fatwah aimed at me, but many Muslims make an idol of their prophet.

You could say that many Muslims like carrots, and risk having a fatwah aimed at you.
You are right, though, about how they view Mohammed, and the Quran.
On the other hand, I expect they’d say that was a bit rich coming from Christians!
