Taste and See

rough demo of song i’m writing this week (copyright 2006, dhayward):

TASTE AND SEE

Taste and see that God is good
Eat his word for better food
Drink from his own living stream
Breath his life so fresh and clean

Chorus:
Taste and see, taste and see
Taste and see that God is good (repeat)

Take the Lord, both flesh and blood
Take him now, receive his love
He is good, his love endures
This you’ll know when he is yours.

There’s no pledge of earthly gain
and no prize of worldly fame
But the wealth that he provides
Is true joy, abundant life!

I really like the second verse. I could see using that in a Eucharistic setting, maybe varying the last verse’s tune just a bit. Also I would probably replace the wealth line with something about the sacrifice He made. I’m not sold on the first verse but it might grow on me. Hope you don’t mind feedback. I think this one has potential.

Me too, I found myself humming along in no time and really enjoying the melody and the words. Can’t wait to sing it along with you live and in person at RV!

I’m looking forward to the final version. I think the first verse might have your essential ideas which is why it came first, but the second really puts those ideas in a more natural poetry.
