Even though Jesse is 20 years old, he’s still our baby. I always used to think that once your kids grew up and left home that all your worries were over. I learned fast that isn’t the case at all. In fact, there problems and issues become more serious and worrisome. It is sad to see a vibrant, active and healthy young man laid up like this. They’ve finally moved Jesse to an internal medicine ward where doctors are more frequent. Yesterday he started to show some improvement. He’s on antibiotics, anti-virals and anti-fungus medications. They are trying to get yogurt into him to replace the good bacteria that all these treatments have knocked out of him. The nurses and doctors are great. We were off to a rough start but I’m sure we’ll finish great together.
Even though I felt out of it yesterday, my community showed awesome support, expressing concern, praying, giving gifts, offering help. I’m happy to belong to such a community. I don’t know how we would be doing without them. Thanks to everyone. We’ll keep you posted. There’s no wifi or internet connection at the hospital, so my updates are sporadic and infrequent, but I’ll do my best.
Contributions to nakedpastor are greatly appreciated.

Hi David (this is Denise)
I agree it is VERY important that the good bacteria get replenished. You can easily purchase probiotics (good bacteria) such as Acidophilus/bifidus in a health food store. These are sold in capsules and should always be refrigerated. If Jessy cannot swallow the caps. , they can simply open them up and pour the acidophilus in his yogourt. Usually the good bacteria found in yogourt is 70% inactive by the time we eat the yogourt.
Hope this helps.
Poor poppet. Shouldn’t be looking like that and stuck in there. Do hope he’s getting a bit better (a lot better!) every day now. Very glad to hear he’s been sent to internal medicine – that’s good, they should know a bit more what they are doing and taking things more seriously. Has your son travelled lately, or been near people who have? Have they tested for infectious diseases, parasites in his stool? Just a thought.
God bless Jesse, God bless you and Lisa and your family.
Shalom

Poor kid. Here’s to his continual recovery. I’m glad to hear that they are finally moving on this for you guys. And thank you for keeping us updated.
Prayers coming your way!

Prayers and good thoughts, David. Grace and peace to you and yours.
David,
Continuing to pray for Jesse. Worrying doesn’t have an age-limit when it comes to our kids. Don’t overlook taking care of yourself, so you won’t be down when Jesse comes home for recovery.

Poor, sweet kid. Yes, they’re still our babies no matter what their age….I’ll keep praying for him….
I’m with Denise on the probiotics. I doubt the yogurt they are giving him has enough. You can get the refrigerated probiotics in powder form and just dump it on his tongue as long as he has enough saliva to swallow it. If not you can mix it with a little water or food. Its best to give it two hours between the antibiotics, but if he is getting the antibiotics frequently you may just have to give it whenever you can.
I am so sorry to hear about all of this and will pray for Jesse.
My oldest daughter just bought a house. She does not want to live alone and therefore has taken her brother and sister with her. Last night was the first night they have all been gone. Despite the joy of the purchase and all the extra room I now have, my heart aches. They are still my babies.
I will continue to pray for your son, NP.
May peace be with you all SOON!
