The pastor had better be able to answer a lot of questions.

And his answers ought somehow or another all get around to the person of Jesus Christ and His work FOR US…otherwise you’ve just found another place where they are ‘playing church’.

Sounds like the pastor is following 1 Peter 3:15.

I’m glad he claims to have answers (plural) rather than ‘THE’
    answer

Well guys, I suggest maybe you read, if you haven’t, Henri Nouwen’s WOUNDED HEALER. Here’s a quote that sort of inspired my cartoon today:
“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate now knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.”

No doubt when someone is in pain, when they are suffering, when their world has crumbled the kind of friend or pastor Nouwen discribes is the desired companion in most cases.

Of course, there are those times when people are looking for answers. That seemed to me what you little man was telling the pastor. But then, I didn’t know what motivated your cartoon.

Great cartoon. I find faith – and the more we come to some educated understanding within it allows for this type of pride (we know it all). Not saying we don’t have some answers (we all do) – but without each other and the culmination of those persepctives – we really are quite limited.
