  1. coffee and cookies would be welcome! but it’d be good to see love, jesus, the word, in there too??! i know i know, i ask for too much….

  2. I recognize the boat–looks like my old boat.
However, I don’t recognize the bait I fish with.
    fishon

  3. I understand the metaphor and particularly like the fact that once they are ‘caught’ the ‘members’ are all dead. It’s a nice touch that I find parallels with evangelical religions exquisitely. Good work.

  4. mmm-wonder if there’s any love.

  5. What if you don’t have members…?

  6. David, this is briliant. I belly laughed so loud, I woke up everybody in the house!!

  7. Man, I wish my church had superb music!

  8. If dead fish is the goal, dynamite’s much more efficient than lures :)

Great illustration — shows some pervasive yet, IMHO, skewed thinking re: what churches should be about…

I would offer my own drawing, but since I’m artistically challenged, here’s some quick food for thought:

    >”Biblical” fishing uses a net not hooks; propelled by sails (wind/Spirit/missional calling), not an engine/motor
    >Goal is to draw in disciples/more fishermen, not catch and consume/entertain members
    >Pastors should be guides (servant leaders), casting visional nets and training other disciples in the boat to be fishermen and servant leaders

Love to hear others’ thoughts on this…

    Blessings

  9. Nice. Nothing like a boat full of dead fish. And check out the motor. Vision. Sweet.

  10. And, it really starts to stink b4 long. Nice one NP!

  11. I like the dead fish in the boat. Nice touch.
