tee-shirt idea: Walk on Water

Here is another tee-shirt idea. I call it “Walk on Water”, an encouragement to believe in miracle. I personally don’t believe in an intervening God… a God that shows up when we need him and disappears when we don’t. I believe in miracle in the sense that everything is miracle, that God is so interwoven in our world and life that it is all miraculous. The very special times when we conclude God has intervened are actually moments when our blinders have been taken off and we see what has always been. What we call a “miracle” is actually, in my opinion, an intersection of God’s constant activity and our comprehension of it.

So these tee-shirts are already available HERE at very reasonable prices in an assortment of sizes, colors and styles. Please buy one, or some of my other designs might strike your fancy instead.

Contributions to nakedpastor are greatly appreciated.

  1. Another way to think of ‘miracle’ is that it is one of those thin places where the veil of this world becomes so thin that we can actually see God working in the background. He is, of course, always there and working, but sometimes he is so veiled it is hard to see. We do, after all, look through a dark glass.

  2. Being grossly overweight, and 6′5″, I can’t order one of the shirts. But I would have ordered this one if it had been available in 3XLT.

The whole walk on water story is to me a central mystery and beauty, and I am always wrestling with it.

  3. Hey Michael. DONE!! You can go and get your XXXL shirt with this design. I designed it chocolate on brown. Looks cool. But you can change the colors if you want.

  4. David…if you don’t believe in an intervening God, then what’s the point of prayer in your life? Or did I totally misunderstand what you meant.

    Cool shirt btw

  5. Love your understanding of miracles David.

  6. If everything’s a miracle, then nothing is.

  7. mmm…. I’d love you to expand on this, because right now I don’t believe in miracles because I don’t want to believe in God that could intervene and doesn’t.

Some life events are tajedies -say a five year old with Leukaemia- and christians beg and beg and nothing happens.

Are we less valuable in God’s eyes than the people who happened to be born in Palestine around year zero? Or are the Gospels just jacked uo to make proselytes believe that Jesus was as strong as any of the other deities they worshipped.

I don’t know but in my country, I could cure Leukaemia at a whim and didn’t, they’d probably lock me up as a dangerous psychopath.

  8. I’m rather late in the day reading this post but I loved what you said so much I’ve blogged about it today, 20 October 2008, crediting you of course. Thanks for the inspiration.

  9. Must resist pointing out the obvious…must resist…can’t..force is to strong…

Ok, identify the miracles of God below:

    1-blooming rose bud
2-birth of a healthy baby boy
3-Undersea earthquake and the resulting tsunami killing 250,000 people
    4-HIV/AIDS
    5-unexpected financial gift
6-surviving a 24 hour flu bug after much prayer
7-surviving a 24 hour flu bug after treatment by your doctor
8-surviving a 24 hour flu bug after just waiting it out
    9-teen accepting Jesus a savior
10-teen accepting Jesus a savior then committing suicide the next week

“I believe in miracle in the sense that everything is miracle…
