This is my submission for this week’s Illustration Friday’s theme, “clique”. Ya, I know it’s an old cartoon, but it’s one of my personal favorites. I’m passionate about diversity in communities. This one seems to be passionate about a smiling but insipid homogeneity.

I guess a polka-dotted bow-tie is out of the question, but I wonder how many of them are wearing thongs under those proper suits! ;^)

This is very funny and confirms that our minds do work along some of the same lines (see my image (http://conniemartin.wordpress.com/)

Gosh, I want to comment on this on so many levels, but I’m restraining myself for once. :-)

All I will say is, although there are many churches that have seen the error of their ways and purposely pursued having more diversity within the congregation, unfortunately many of their leadership teams still resemble this cartoon and the most pitiful thing of all is that they use the Bible to back that up.

    **sigh**

    Awesome David, as usual.

Enjoying the day off here in Tampa, FL ~ Deanna

One of the places where I’m seeing a lack of diversity the most is in the area of generational snobbery. Regardless of other cultural or ethnic differences, I’ve been frustrated over the last few years (which happen to coincide with the birth of our multi-generational church) with a mentality among some that if the current crowd is outside their accepted age range, it’s not for them.

I once thought the ideal church was loaded with hip young couples. Then I got one to lead.
