“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
Praying for you today. Let God give you the rest and renewal that you need.
That’s how I see God, not always pulling us out of our misery but being there in the midst of it with us. A very nice piece David, particularly in light of the place you find yourself at the present moment.
Ecc 12:8 Useless, useless, said the Philosopher. It is all useless.
Ecc 12:9 But because the Philosopher was wise, he kept on teaching the people what he knew. He studied proverbs and honestly tested their truth.
Ecc 12:10 The Philosopher tried to find comforting words, but the words he wrote were honest.
Ecc 1:8 Everything leads to weariness—a weariness too great for words. Our eyes can never see enough to be satisfied; our ears can never hear enough.
Ecc 1:9 What has happened before will happen again. What has been done before will be done again. There is nothing new in the whole world.
Ecc 1:10 “Look,” they say, “here is something new!” But no, it has all happened before, long before we were born.
Ecc 1:11 No one remembers what has happened in the past, and no one in days to come will remember what happens between now and then.
Ecc 1:17 I was determined to learn the difference between knowledge and foolishness, wisdom and madness. But I found out that I might as well be chasing the wind.
Ecc 1:18 The wiser you are, the more worries you have; the more you know, the more it hurts.
Ecc 3:11 He has set the right time for everything. He has given us a desire to know the future, but never gives us the satisfaction of fully understanding what he does.
Ecc 7:20 There is no one on earth who does what is right all the time and never makes a mistake.
Ecc 7:21 Don’t pay attention to everything people say—you may hear your servant insulting you,
Ecc 7:22 and you know yourself that you have insulted other people many times.
Ecc 7:23 I used my wisdom to test all of this. I was determined to be wise, but it was beyond me.
Ecc 7:24 How can anyone discover what life means? It is too deep for us, too hard to understand.
Are you one of the few North Americans (sorry Canadians ) that hasn’t read ‘the Shack’ yet?
If not buy it and take a day out in your own shack and read it, or send me your postal address and I will buy you a copy through Amazon, it is that good and may help you to overcome your own Great Sadness or at least start your own journey home.

Been there, done that…made me stronger, God was by my side, He’s with you too, don’t think for a second He’s not…you’re in my prayers, as is your family, God’s peace.
How can such a simple cartoon be so powerful. I almost feel as though I never want to visit NP after this. Not because I am bored with it or somehow through with it, but because if is to come to an end, this is how I want to remember it. Raw, emotional and authentic. God bless you my beautiful friend, may He grant you His perfect peace.
Yes, it should get into the 70’s this weekend (even if some of the nights get into the mid 30’s), one needs Texas fans here… and yes, we Texas fans sure LOVE you! I’m with Fat Radical – get The Shack book and find a quiet place for 2 days to read it! Not trying to “should” on you but it is good for the soul!!!
I stumbled upon your blog and can relate to your profile quite a bit. Except for being a pastor and drinking scotch, I share all of your favorites. I prefer a nice age bourbon with a Sanch Panza ciguar.
Sometimes I feel like a pastor trapped in an artist’s body. It can be frustrating at times.
Creative people tend to be prone to depression anyway. I try to not get too high emotionally or too low. Focusing on Jesus when I feel depression coming on works wonders.
David, you’re in my prayers tonight.
I have no words-just concern for you and for your family.
May God surround you all with His peace, guidance, and comfort.
david,
i am glad you painted your picture with jesus weeping by your side.
I could’ve painted mine, crying in solitude.
Going through some really hard stuff about faith as well.
I am praying for you. And i want you to know that i have been immensely blessed by your art work and your ministry here. I am sending you hugs all the way across the pacific ocean from Asia.
Just found your site. I find peace in seeing this drawing. Picturing Christ crying with me through all the triggers, moments of doubt and sadness, priceless! Great for the soul.

“Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.”
I can’t find it now but I have always found it good to laugh with those who laugh, sing with those who sing, and cry with those who cry.
no words, just love.

in silence, He loves
Aw David….
This is beautiful!!
((hugs)) speaks volumes in its simplicity.

well abmo, it looks like you found some words.

Yip, sorry about that. Life is crap sometimes. Then again, sometimes life grows out of crap.

Praying for you in the night and in the morning that is coming.
Wonderful image, David.
