The fakeNaked Show Part 2

December 14, 2007  |  technology, thought  |

Well, it’s about time! The next installment of fakeNaked is here for you. Shane Magee of Fake Republic and I are going to try to do the fakeNaked show weekly. So stay tuned. These are totally unrehearsed sessions. This is the way Shane and I often converse. We never know what we’re going to talk about or the direction it’s going to go in. Today’s talk, mostly about money, was totally unexpected. Actually, we’re not sure what to think about it. But there you have it: naked and not fake. It’s the real David Hayward and Shane Magee.

  1. Nice vid chat, glad you boys are back to the fakenaked project. I used to be uncomfortable about the whole money thing but I finally got over it. You describe people hearing money, money, money at church. I wonder about that. It seems to me that the churches that talk money, money, money seem to be full, full, full and on t.v. as well asking for more money. T.V. asks for more of my money every 10 minutes or less but we still keep turning that tired old thing on, even during the strike. I do think it’s an excuse we use to get pissy about church but I think the naked truth is that it’s not the big deal we usually make it out to be.

And I’d say to Shane that if Dave gets to put a price on a painting, you can feel completely comfortable feeding your family by being paid to teach. Relax, don’t be so religious!

  2. Hey guys,
I loved the chat. I found myself smiling and laughing a lot. Not at you, but with you. I liked the thing about letting the visitor to the chuch know that they weren’t expected to give. You said it a little differently than that, but that is what I heard.

Shane, I have no problem about money and my ministry [pastor]. I have been blessed with no ambition for money. I am well content to be feed and clothed by God. He takes care of my needs–and gives me a little fishing time. And for me, the time is more important than money.

For you, it seems by what you had to say about it, Father has given to you a fear of becoming attached to money, so as to not undo you in the future. I would say Father has blessed you with a knowledge that, for you, there is danger; therefore, you have and are setting limits. You will control your money follow, not the money flow control you.

Hey guys, stay loose and free; don’t you dare become a couple of Dr. Phils.
