sculpture “recept”

Stone sculpture "recept".

recept

This is a sculpture I did a while ago which is still in my possession. It is Brazilian soapstone on a walnut and brass bass. It’s about the size of an adult hand. It is called “recept“.

My heart has been full of emotion lately. So much so that sometimes I feel it is in danger of bursting. I’m feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude. I feel like I’ve been given another lease on life. I’ve been through an incredible inner ordeal for the past long while… truly a trial in the desert. But for some reason, mercy was shown to me, grace was extended, and I was awakened from my slumber, I was raised from my death. Without looking for it, asking for it, or even being aware that I needed it, I was given new life.

So I am thankful. Even for what it took to get here.

I looked up “recept” online, but still don’t understand fully. Guess I’ll have to keep looking. So, I guess your bare tree is showing you it is indeed NOT barren! :)

“recept” is not a word. I made it up. A derivative of receptive.

Life comes at us and we’re I’ll prepared, but if we just keep breathing, we are capable of so much mor than we imagined.

David, so good to hear. I’m starting to feel the same. And things have been happening, too. Life hasn’t been this way since I first gave my heart to God and Jesus. I see the long road between there and here as the only one that could have led me here, and so I really wouldn’t change a thing, unless it were to not cause anyone pain along the way. The fact that I did just makes their love and forgiveness towards me all the more undeserved gifts. May we always follow the blessing.

    I love your sculpture,
    It’s beautifully strong and simple.
If I was taking it’s photo I’d want to see it in natural light, (perhaps morning or evening when the magic happens,) maybe with a darker background so that your eye isn’t distracted away from it.
Either with still water in the bottom that gives the opportunity for some beautiful reflection in it.
Or with water pouring and splashing in it/on it, all kind of plentiful, like a symbol that there’s so much more than you could ever hope of containing, or recieving or being receptive to.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Jo

    recept – receptive – receptacle

As such, it is not for storage. It is to temporarily hold its contents while those contents are being transferred.

As such, we are not for storage. We are to be the means by which we transfer the love and light of the divine to our sisters and brothers. We are not for hoarding – we are for sharing.

    We are recepts.
