unity fail

We are already one. Unity is something we have. The walls that divided us no longer exist.

Unless we build new ones.

Unity is something that we acknowledge, embrace and maintain.

And we have to start somewhere.

Agreed David. Unity is a fact that we can’t see due to the ego walls we’ve built around our particular God box.

If Yeshua is somehow the ‘Saviour’ of the world then it’s the whole thing rather than the formulaic ‘saved’ part. May I be bold and suggest that many outside the Christian box are experiencing this ‘salvation’ on a daily basis and many within are not.

Please don’t stone me guys! I’m only trying to get to the magnitude of what Yeshua has achieved – much more than we’ve given Him credit for.

The only true brotherhood amongst the creatures of this world is the brotherhood of sin, in which we ALL share.

We are only one in Christ, and even then we still carry that Old Sinner (the Old Adam) around our neck like a stinking dead carcass.

Not in this world will there ever be harmony and peace amongst people. Although we certainly ought do all we can towards that end.

    Just a dose of reality.

I have had all the “outsiders” you mention in the cartoon be much kinder to me than the “insiders” could ever hope to be…including and especially, atheists…I will never say a bad word about the atheists I know. And many that I don’t. They never put me down to build themselves up. I’m alive today because of them. As for the builders of walls and boxes, I am extremely gun-shy, from past experiences with them…I do not like it when they invade my space or try to throw their walls up around me…did you know they even have an organization….”WALLBUILDERS”? Dylan, you’ve got it…many who consider themselves to be part of the kingdom will find themselves outside it while the people they exclude, who thought they never had even a ghost of a chance, will find themselves seated at the Lord’s table…

    What does “unity” really mean?
What does “unity” really look like?

    Jesus taught unity.

Jesus practicing “unity.” “You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and everything unclean.”

I only know two confessed, adamant atheists personally very well. Both have an interesting relationship with the “law”, in the “law and gospel” sense.

One is older, and very charming but a crook, a crook of the most devious kind, but he thinks he is very smart, and he has hurt my family very badly. The other one is younger, idealist, doctrinaire though uninformed about religion. He speaks a lot about how you can be “good” without God and how much good atheists do around the world, such as Bill Gates. (I could not resist mentioning that Bill Gates still has billions left over and that he built his empire on some questionable business domination.)

Daily examination of yourself, repenting of your shortcomings, confessing your shortcomings, trying again, does not seem to be large in the picture for them.

    I love them both.

And if they are willing to talk with me, I will gladly argue with them both and try to tell them about law and gospel. :)

I had the pleasure of hearing Judson Cornwall speak years ago and he said then that he saw a paradigm shift in relation to various denominations, at that time seeing the divide between orthodoxy and evangelical. He said he began to see the churches as tributaries of the same river and evangelicals should take a fresh look at some of the practices of orthodoxy. I’ve never forgotten that, especially now that I’ve switched from evangelical to orthodox–(I call myself a recovering charismatic).
