Not even Jesus demanded 100% unquestioning loyalty. In fact, he guaranteed it wouldn’t happen by choosing the disciples he did.

Wow, wow, wow. The picture is powerful, but the comment…I’ve never considered that perspective and it offers such hope!

David, there are churches, and church leaders who welcome and celebrate questions. It makes me very sad that Christians and churches that welcome the perspectives and the gifts offered by other faiths, and by people of no acknowledged faith … and those who recognize, acknowledge and journey through their doubts, questions, etc. are too often pushed (and allow themselves, ourselves) to be pushed to the extreme fringes and accept our voicelessness within a context where faiths and faith groups are often identified by the narrowest, most exclusive vision. There are people of faith, some of us working, celebrating and ministering within ‘The Church,’ and within denominational structures who are struggling with what the community of Jesus’ vision might look like and what it might mean to live within and as part of God’s creation.
