This is the danger of ideas. If we love them too much they take on a life of their own and can turn into inhumane ideologies. The next logical step is it becomes an idol which dominates and rules us.

Ooh, good one, David. Was it Barth that said worship always leads to some brand of idolatry?
God is above all ideologies. However, that doesn’t mean we should stop understanding him. For instance, I can say God is love. I can also say God is not love because he is so much more than what I know about love. Lastly, I can say that God is not NOT love, which means that I accept that he is love, but that God is more love than I know and all that I could say about him will never adequately explain it all. For me, this line of thinking is a good way to avoid idols and avoid putting God in a box.

I haven’t seen Inception yet, so I really don’t relate to what you’re saying. Though, I do want to see the movie, so don’t tell me.
If I had to carry around all my ideas like that, it’d be pretty scary.
Any ideology which turns into a an idol can be threatened by a new idea. And every rebellion carries within itself the seeds of its own destruction.
