So I received three complimentary copies of August 2009′s issue of Christianity Today, featuring one of my cartoons. I must tell you it was quite a thrill to see it there. “nakedpastor.com” is tucked away in very small letters off to the side. I don’t blame them. Not one bit.

My name is David Hayward, and I am the nakedpastor. I am a graffiti artist on the walls of religion.

Seen your tweet, I think it is very cool and a wonderful feeling to see your cartoon featured!! Way to go!
Congrats, Dave! Very exciting!
very nice!
I do enjoy your cartoons.
Look at you, Mr. Famous!!! Love it!!
My god, they’re recommending early marriage? How utterly stupid.
Well done, nice to see a pic of you too.
Hooray for you!!!!!
Wow – great! Congrats.
congrats!!! i hope they ask for more!! I LOVE your cartoons!!!
Congrats – your cartoons are pretty damn good if u ask me – more than well deserved…maybe you can be their Ben Wicks? (lol)
But do you feel comfortable with that magazine? I just looked at it and it’s very conservative and reactionary. I’m not surprised they chose the mildest of your cartoons.
Tiggy…Christianity Tommorow might be more appropriate
….Congrats David…it’s been awhile since I’ve had one of those(CT) in my hands.
What is the case for early marriage? Early sex (with a slightly reduced amount of guilt)?
Congrats!
I don’t know any Christians who wait till they get married. At university even the evangelicals were at it – one on the kitchen table as I remember and not with her current boyfriend. The Anglicans in an open, yet understated way, and as for the Catholics….one chaplain (priest) was carrying on with a student and the other ran off with a nun.
My sisters both married young and both got divorced because they hadn’t been mature enough or known themselves enough to make a good choice.
Looking at that magazine online made me realise how totally alien I find so called Christian culture.
*applause*
Well done, sir
Congratulations, David! Now that you’ve had a cartoon published, you’ve got some “credibility” to approach a publisher about getting a book of your cartoons in print! And I’ll be the first to buy your book…especially if it comes with your signature on the fly leaf… Keep up the good work! (Let yourself enjoy the thrill of being officially published!)
How cool is that? They should hire you for a monthly.
Whoooo-hooooo! Congrats, David!
Ah, we are in the company of the newly made famous.
Congrats.
fishon
Congratulations! I am happy for you
Being in print is great fun David . . . congratulations!
Congratulations David
We will buy you a beer when you come to visit.
Congrats, David!!!!
*starts laughing* because I am not the only one who reacted to “the case for early marriage”. What early divorce? I suppose it IS better to get divorced by 24 then wait til your mid 40s when its harder to start over again. Jinkies you gotta love the conservatives.
Although… I haven’t read the article yet lol.
BUT! Aside from all that! Congrats on getting a subversive cartoon in that conservative mag *^_^* It might not have been one of your more controversial, but it will lead people to find your blog ;c)
That’s if the blog is still here to find!
They’ll probably be recommending arranged marriages next. Maybe given the increasingly early age of puberty we should all be married at twelve. Oh except gay people of course as the article they had on that was written on the basis that the reader would assume gay marriage was a bad thing. It had a ‘we will fight them on the beaches’ tone…hmm, Brighton? Miami?
Congrats!
Also, sad to see that the “conservative-liberal” divide is still so present in the church. Shame on us for that.
But there are different kinds of conservatives and different kinds of liberals. I’d say I’m very much a liberal, but I go to a Charismatic church where I find some of the leaders are very conservative, but the main leader is in some ways a liberal.
CONGRATS DAVID!!!
thanks kliner. somethn, huh?
Congrats! i bet you will get a bunch of fundies coming to your site as a result of this coverage! BE PREPARED!
Warmest Regards,
EP
