This is one of those that all of us pastors feel but none of us say.
A naked observation indeed.

And some times I say, “Oh thank God! Here’s a list…”.

Regarding BrianM’s comment:
Yea, it is like the story about the revival that came to a small town. After the revival three pastors were sitting down to have breakfast. They started talking about how the revival was for their church.
The first pastor said, “The revival was great for our church. We gained 3 families.”
The second pastor said, “Well the revival was even better for our church, we gained 5 families.”
The third pastor said, “oh yea, well we had the best experience of all…we lost 8 families.”

Perhaps you already know some version of this story:
A Scottish Presbyterian is rescued after many years on a desert island. As he stands on the deck of the rescuing vessel, the captain says to him, “I thought you were stranded alone. How come I can see three huts on the beach?”
- “Well,” replies the castaway, “that one there is my house and that one there is where I go to church.”
- “And the third one?” asks the skipper.
- “Oh, that’s my old church.”
