“You have no idea of where God is going to engineer your circumstances, no knowledge of what strain is going to be put on you either at home or abroad, and if you waste your time in over-active energies instead of getting into soak on the great fundamental truths of God’s Redemption, you will snap when the strain comes; but if this time of soaking before God is being spent in getting rooted and grounded in God on the unpractical line, you will remain true to Him whatever happens” (Oswald Chambers).

A great thought and very good counsel.

How many times to we get caught in an exhausted state of mind, body and spirit due to our unbalanced schedules and priorities?

This reminds me to be “rooted and grounded in God” on the mountain experience, so that I am prepared for the valley journey.

It also reminded me that fruit is grown in the valley, not nessesarily on the mountain. Hmmmm, I guess these “strains” are a guarantee for the fruit production in our life.

Thanks for the reminder of the importance of “soaking” of God’s redemption!

Episcopal priest and author Morton Kelsey says that an efficienty busy life is “more potentially destructive of spiritual growth than debauchery or alcohol or hard drugs” (quoted in Contemplative Youth Ministry by Mark Yaconelli).
